‘I Love My Butt’
Released: 01/09/13 via CTRL Records
Badoom Badoom! Lady Lykez is back with her new banger I Love My Butt. The track is about her celebrating her female womanly curves, and boy does she love ’em!
“Growing up I got a lot of attention on my butt – everyone always made comments when I was walking down the street or out. I’ve always been happy with my shape but when I was in school everyone wanted to be stick thin, and looked up to a lot of the skinny, slim supermodels. This song is about being happy with yourself no matter your shape or what other people say is the way you should look. It’s about working with what you got and flaunting it! And obviously I do love my butt A LOT so what better way to express it!”
As the follow up track to ‘Eurgh!’ which grabbed the attention of the Guardian who made her the New Band of The Day(http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/may/09/new-band-lady-lykez ) and BBC Radio 1Xtra who made the track their BBC IntroducingTrack of the Week, Lady Lykez was the first to be called when U.S superstar EVE came to the U.K, and was asked to be her main support act. Having dropped ‘I Love My Butt’ as part of her set Lady Lykez created such a reaction that she was asked to return to the stage to perform it a SECOND time.
With excitement building around the talented rapper and the likes of Misha B, Lethal Bizzle and Tinchy Stryder all tweeting their support for the rapper, SBTV’s DJ Melody Kane took it to the next level when she tweeted Lady Lykez directly to ask her to headline her Female Takeover tour and show off her talents (and her womanly curves) throughout the UK including Belfast, Cardiff, Derby, Leicester and Proud in Camden, London.
Despite her hectic schedule, Lady Lykez continues to be actively involved with her on-going charity work for ‘Only Connect’ and travels throughout the London boroughs on a monthly basis to work with ex-offenders and youths at risk of crime where she uses her music and lyrics to inspire and motivate. With such an entertaining and somewhat humorous subject matter you’d question how ‘I Love My Butt’ can inspire and motivate but Lady Lykez uses this track as a prime example of how it’s important to embrace yourself and be confident within yourself no matter what society and media paint as the ‘perfect picture’.
